Thinking of becoming a real estate agent in Florida? You’re in the right place. Whether you're looking for a flexible career, a new income stream, or a chance to help others find their dream home, real estate can be a great fit.

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to getting your Florida real estate license in 2025.

Step 1: Make Sure You Qualify

Before you begin, check that you meet the basic requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a high school diploma or GED

  • Have a valid Social Security number

That’s it! If you meet those three, you’re ready for the next step.

Step 2: Take the Required 63-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

You must complete a state-approved 63-hour Sales Associate Pre-License course. At our school in Orlando, we offer:

  • In-person classes

  • Livestream Zoom classes

  • Fully online self-paced options

This course covers Florida real estate law, principles, contracts, and ethics. It ends with a course final exam, which you’ll need to pass before moving on.

📝 Pro tip: Choose a school with strong reviews, experienced instructors, and flexible formats that fit your schedule.

Step 3: Get Fingerprinted

Next, you’ll need to submit electronic fingerprints for a background check. You can do this through a provider approved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

💡 Tip: Do this early—it can take a few days for the results to clear.

Step 4: Submit Your Application to the DBPR

Apply online with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). The application fee is currently $83.75.

You can apply before you finish your course, but your license won’t be issued until you’ve passed both the course exam and state exam.

Step 5: Pass the Florida Real Estate Exam

Once your application is approved, you’ll schedule your exam through Pearson VUE.

  • The exam has 100 multiple-choice questions

  • You need a score of 75% or higher to pass

📚 Our school provides practice exams and review sessions to help you feel confident and prepared.

Step 6: Activate Your License

After passing the state exam, you’re ready to activate your license! You’ll need to be sponsored by a licensed Florida real estate broker in order to practice.

Once activated, you’re officially a Florida real estate agent—welcome to the industry!
